Internet Business Launch

Internet business launch is exciting, but it can also get tiresome.

I just launched an internet business with three other business partners.

When we started putting the internet in business together, things went quickly.

As time went on though, progress seemed slow. There is a good reason for that.

When you start an internet business, you can quickly put a few things in place, for example, the website. The website seems durable, and there is a real sense of accomplishment, a real sense that our business on the internet is almost finished, now you have a website.

Is not - a website is only the beginning.

The purpose of a website to convert visitors into customers possible.

To convert customers, you first need the traffic, then you have to pay very close attention to your copy, sales process, terms and conditions, tiny details that can dissolve the sale, gotchas that can cause customer service nightmares, etc etc.

We spent considerable time customizing our shopping cart checkout page. This is an important part of conversion. Just because someone clicked the button and purchase proceeds to your page, does not mean to say they actually made a purchase decision, and whether they are, they may change their minds before they complete the transaction.

What happens after they bought? They will not receive their product purchase mail for several days. By then it could cool off. We need to keep their fears stoked a series of emails, sent automatically after the sale, and designed to keep them excited.

We also need a way for our customers to communicate with us. An internet business has several communication modes available, including the email courses, as well as help desk software, phone, fax, live chat, mail ... you name it.

We chose to start with just a help desk. Email can get lost, and the help desk provides an excellent record of customer interactions.

Along the way, there were many hiccups and glitches. There were technical problems, and we adjusted some of our policies and procedures including methods.

We have a clear goal, and it is very important. In our case, we decided to launch soon, providing all the essentials are in place and operating correctly. This allowed us to cut many a short discussion on "good idea, but it is post-launch. We do that later."

So many great ideas are really bad on a project - these are best put aside the interest of focusing on completion. If you can build and fix forever, and not down to earth.

When we finally felt we were all in place, we turned on the traffic.

This can be anticlimactic. We have ads in place in our Google account, but when they turned in, no case. There were delays before the ads run, and we may have to adjust our bid so that they are sufficiently high to match the competition.

Launching an internet business is fun. It also requires attention to details. If you're not that person, make sure you are working on (or hiring) a person.
